error on confim.php

During checkout process, after entering shipping info and pressing 'checkout button' I am redirected to a confim.php page that displays:

--
Warning: require_once(Connections/mysql_tutorial.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/j/o/h/johndwatch/html/confirm.php on line 5

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'Connections/mysql_tutorial.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php') in /home/content/j/o/h/johndwatch/html/confirm.php on line 5
--

I'm not sure why it would be looking for such a file. Any thoughts?

Ok so I found that file and put it in the proper dir on the server and now get THIS error on that page:

From there 'checkout' goes to confirm.php

Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/content/j/o/h/johndwatch/html/Connections/mysql_tutorial.php on line 9

Fatal error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/content/j/o/h/johndwatch/html/Connections/mysql_tutorial.php on line 9

Any ideas on how I can solve that error?

The error you are getting is from your MySQL server letting you know that a file system connection cannot be established to the db though the socket. The socket is usually used when the connection type relies on the file system and you have the host specified just as localhost.

In the past I have been able to get past issues like this by forcing the connection to go through the web port rather than the socket file by using the ip address of 127.0.0.1. This should be the loopback address that points to localhost on the server.

re "forcing the connection to go through the web port rather than the socket file by using the ip address of 127.0.0.1. This should be the loopback address that points to localhost on the server."

I'm not sure what that means. (I'm not a developer.) Also how *precisely* would I do that?

I have a different problem locally, when I get to the same point I get a different page shipping_failure.php

with:

Shipping Quote Failed
We're sorry
UspsCom:: DoAuth

If you are getting to the shipping failure page then you will need to add in the full request and full response bindings for your shipping service provider. On your shipping failure page go to the bindings and expand them to find the USPS selection, in here drag and drop the full request and full response onto the page where you would like to see them, then save the page and test it again. You should normally be doing live API testing on a live server to ensure that you are getting the same result as you will in the end environment.

As for the ip address of 127.0.0.1 you would use this in your connection file in place of localhost.

.

In the bindings I do not see a USPS selection (shipping failure page). I've expanded all of them.

Anyway, I now just want to remove that and charge $6 per item. I went into eCart, shipping tab and removed USPS.

But this changed nothing. When I closed eCart after making this change, which stuck, none of the pages or code had changed (Dreamweaver does not indicate a newer copy). Also when I run through the cart again locally, I get the same error. "Shipping Quote Failed We're sorry UspsCom::DoAuth"

How do I *really* remove it?

What you removed from eCart was the shipping charge rule, the USPS shipping quote server behavior is still intact on the confirm page and will need to be removed. On the confirm page look for the shipping quote server behavior in the list of server behavior and remove it.

For the new rule you can just add one in. For the trigger use 'number of items in the cart > 0' and for the calculation choose based on a column subtotal and use the quantity column, then choose 'times' and enter the amount per item you would like to charge for the shipping.
