is there a *manual* for your software?

I have the getting started guide, but is there a *manual* for your software? I don't know what a lot of the things mentioned in the Quickstart guide are or they are undefined, e.g. recordset, dynamic vs static add to cart buttons, and Bindings.

each product you purchase...has a
Help and documentation area in your "account" section after you login.

Basic understandings of "recordset", "bindings" etc, is googable....

Recordset = a query made to a database.

Bindings = connecting information from the database through a recordset query to the page elements where you want or need them.

Dynamic = info stored in a database, binded/displayed on a page (gotten through a recordset query. i.e. database driven.

Static = information you "manually" put into a page. (not drawn out of a database).

Hope this helps ya~ :)

Thanks for your help. Yes EVERYTHING is googleable, but this isn't open source, I paid for this and expect proper documentation. I've been through the 'help' and 'documentation' area in my account section and it is woefully insufficient for a non-developer newbie to be able to figure out how to use the software that was sold to me.

Actually it is Data Assist that is truly, truly lacking.

DataAssist and eCart are developer tools aimed at making web development easier for a developer. These products cannot teach you web development, just like Dreamweaver (which is also not open source) cannot teach you web development.

What you are asking for is not a manual for using DataAssist or any of our other extensions, but a manual for dynamic web development (which DataAssist helps with just one aspect of). We have documented how to use DataAssist, but as a developer tool, there are prerequisites that you need to meet before you can jump into using it.

There are a lot of great resources on the web for getting started with dynamic web development. For beginners to get started with developing websites, we provide the PHP Database Starter Kit which should give you some insight into what it is going to take: database-for-php/

re "DataAssist and eCart are developer tools aimed at making web development easier for a developer." Wish I had known that before I purchased it. Perhaps that should be communicated to WebAssist's sales folks.

re: "Dreamweaver (which is also not open source) cannot teach you web development." Of course, but their Manuals *can* teach me how to use Dreamweaver - and that is precisely my point.

I *am* asking for a manual for using DataAssist. Does Web Assist have one? I've been through the dataassist_gsg.pdf. Do you have any documentation on what the PHP pages that Data Assist creates are for, what they do, how to configure them, how to handle issues and problems, etc?

As an example: the Results page, Detail page and Insert page are created by and specific to Data Assist and are not general matters of dynamic web development. So I'd like to know how to use them.

Make sense?

OMG database-for-php/ - this is GREAT! I've been struggling with this stuff for weeks and sure wish someone had posted a link to this before! Is it new?
