New Columns and not wanting to have price/total

Hi i've been struggling with adding columns to my cart. i've followed the tuts and i'm still not getting any information to show, I've had a look at the adding list columns tut and it apears to be a lot more advanced and shows you the code to use in your recordset, do you use this code for lists only or is it code that i should be using on my text field columns too. My client wants to show on the cart a field for product code (not ID) and a fabric pattern size and roll size, the roll size could possibly be a list but the others will be text fields. Please can you help.

Also i have problems with the cart by it putting prices in and totaling up, my client doesn't want the cart to be a purchasing system it will be a product ordering system where price is not discussed, so I don't want the price and total fields to show, when I take the price field off, the cart will not email out. I would very much appreciate some assistance on these matters as my project is requied to be live by the end of this week. Kind regards, Mike

the process for adding simple product options is fairly easy.

In the eCart Object Create the new columns, make sure to check the unique attribute.

Then in the eCart Add to cart button, select the option columns and set the Updatable As option to the correct type for form elemtn, Text, or select list as desired.

eCart will create the element on the page for you and handle the linking as well.

As for creating the display with the price or total, eCart is not configured to work that way, it will always add those columns for you, but you can remove them in design view of the cart display manually after it is created.
