Newbie browser configuration

Hi
I've loaded the DW/WebAssist/BuildSite/NewSiteSculptorSite/
straight onto a new html page after running a newsite configuration with successful Remote Info and Testing Server tests.
Trouble is the F12 browser test runs this error from the index.php

{404 Error: Page or Document not found

This could be caused by the following: ◦The page or document is temporarily not available
◦The page or document was renamed and no longer exists
◦The bookmark being used is outdated
◦The URL was entered incorrectly
}

The browsers http address is indeed incorrect.
index.php
As I think it shoould be.
the-run-around.co.uk

I've installed xammp and both Apache / MySql are running plus, the site is located in the htdocs folder with the correct DW Local Info:
C:\xampp\htdocs\the-run-around.co.uk\

What is incorrect?

pressing f12 will view the page on your local server.

if you are running this in localhost, then the index file would be in index.php assuming you have loaded all of the appropriate files onto the server

you would need to upload the files to the hosting server to view them under your url

Thanks for your help Craig R
Now, I'm confused a little.
Upload the site to the sever to view the files locally?

Secondly, is this DW Site Manager input correct?

Local Info:
Site Name: the-run-around.co.uk
Local Root Folder:C:\xampp\htdocs\the-run-around.co.uk\
Local Images folder:C:\xampp\htdocs\the-run-around.co.uk\
HTTP Address: index.php

Remote Info Tests:
'Dreamweaver connected to your Web server successfully'.
Testing Server:
'Dreamweaver connected to your Web server successfully'.

Every time the F12 local browser runs this error:
On this http address:
index.php

404 Error: Page or Document not found This could be caused by the following: ◦The page or document is temporarily not available
◦The page or document was renamed and no longer exists
◦The bookmark being used is outdated
◦The URL was entered incorrectly
You have the following options: 1.Please return to the 1&1 Homepage

I've put the entire site up, no difference.
Why is 1and1.co.uk coming up in the http address, It is not listed in the remote or testing server info?
index.php
I know that is where the-run-around.co.uk is listed.
Or simply how do I resolve this issue to view the index.php on the local host browser?

before you consider viewing your site 'live', that is, using a hosting provider, you will want to test on your 'local' server.

personally, I dont use xampp, i use apache, but things should be similar.

Assuming you are saving your files to htdocs, then this should be your localhost.

there should be some useful information in your set-up, to troubleshoot whether or not php and mysql have been successsfully installed.

step 1, create a file with an htm or html extension and run this.

if this works, then at least your local host has been configured ok.

Officeguy has a help file for setting up xammp, 144/. take a look

Hi and Thanks Craig R
I created a html page called popup.html, tested it and the same errors runs.
When i run localhost in a new browser it defaults to the xammp congrats page.
The status is running everythiing except smtp and ftp.
I will follow you recommendation and check the site manager set up as site sculptor doe's have a set up exercise I know of.

Where the location of the files is:
Local Root Folder:C:\xampp\htdocs\the-run-around.co.uk\

the URL for accessing the site is:
the-run-around.co.uk

when you press the f12 button in Dreamweaver to preview in the browser, Dreamweaver uses the URL Prefix you define in the Testing Server settings. make sure the URL Prefix on the testing server tab is set to use:
the-run-around.co.uk

Many thanks for all your help Craig R and Jason Byrnes
The change to the testing server info made a significant difference enabling the browser to read this error:
Warning: require_once(WA_Globals/WA_Globals.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\xampp\htdocs\the-run-around.co.uk\index.php on line 1

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'WA_Globals/WA_Globals.php' (include_path='.;C:\xampp\php\PEAR') in C:\xampp\htdocs\the-run-around.co.uk\index.php on line 1

With a browser address that is correct this time:
index.php
So at least it is easy to guess there is a problem with the localhost xammp.
I tried to get into MySQLphp to administer a http change as it seems to using apache.
I don't really know how as a use name and password which is blocking the server 127 connection. I've tried to change that with no success yet! Off to work now so many thanks once again, its a learning curve but someone has to do it.

the error is saying that it cannot find the WA_Globals/WA_Globals.php file at:
C:\xampp\htdocs\the-run-around.co.uk\WA_Globals\WA_Globals.php

make sure that the WA_Globals directory exists at C:\xampp\htdocs\the-run-around.co.uk\
