Display foreign key name vs ID

I need to display the a foreign key name, however when I alter the query my results disappear. It seems as though DataAssist only pulls from tables. Is there a solution so that I can display the category name and not the id on my results page?

To start off, I have to warn you that making modifications to the code makes this not a supported feature.

If you could describe your database structure, the query that is applied by DataAssist and the query you modified, I can try to point you in the right direction.

DB Structure

There are 2 tables: content and category. Category has 2 fields: catID and catName. In the content table there are many fields but it has a fk called cCategory. What's interesting to me is that I can have a dynamic dropdown on the insert and update pages that shows the name and not the id but on the results page it shows the id only. Seems like I should be able to choose the label name.

and what does the query look like before and after you modify it?

Sounds to me that you need to do some joins on your query
