dfp2 and dw8

I have 2 questions before I insall this on my computer.
1. does dfp2 work with dw8 ( don't see why it wouldn't)
2. can I keep both dfp1 and 2 on the same computer?

Thanks
Phil

1.) We have stopped testing on DW8, so there is no way to be sure it will work, but I imagine it might.

2) No. The extension uses and replaces some of the files... not to mention extension manager won't let you.

Is there an area on the forum that deals with this extension (even the earlier version) for DW8? The extension doesn't work the same as it does with the CS series--some code manipulation has to be done in order to get the extension to work properly. Can you recommend an area?

I foolishly paid to upgrade to DFP2 without first checking that it doesn't work for DW8.

I, like many others who don't live in the USA, have refused to upgrade to CS3/CS4 Dreamweaver because of Adobe's pricing policy where in UK & Europe CS4 upgrades cost as much as double what it costs in the USA for EXACTLY the same product.

So, I have a licence for DFP2 which I won't be using, can I sell it?!

Mark.

You can sell it, or if you purchased in the last 15 days you can contact sales and return it.

Doh! I bought it on 22nd May in order to get the upgrade discount - I only went to use it yesterday which is when I found out it's not compatible with DW8 :-(

You say the reason for this is becasue you no longer test on DW8 - is there anyway of getting a version of the MXP which will install on DW8 - I understand it will not be supported, but I'd rather have a go than pay $343 MORE than US Adobe customers pay to upgrade from Studio 8 to CS 4 Web Standard. (US price: $399, Cyprus - Europe price: €527 euros excl. Tax) It is so unfair :(

If you contact sales and explain your situation, it is likely that they will be understanding and give you a refund. You can try posting a support incident and ask for a version that will install on DW8, but it isn't an insignificant amount of work, so it is unlikely they will be able to create a special build for you, but it can't hurt to ask.

How to install it

When I tried to install DFP 2.0 on DW8 it refused to install. Is there a way to unpack it so that I can get at the core elements?

You could download CS4 30 day trial and install it as the only extension installed.

Then you could move the installed files from the Configuration folder... you would have to be careful not to move DW created files and menu files since they may cause problems with your core DW functionality.

This would mean all menu access would be gone and no objects would appear, so your only access might be the server behaviors directly... maybe... but again this is deep down uncharted waters with unsupported and untested environments so it might not be as easy as it sounds.
