droplist value and label added to database

Hi

Does anyone know of a way to add the value and label of a droplist selection into 2 seperate columns in a database?

Basically I have a droplist of counties. The county Name and its ID and want both the county name and id inserted into their own columns in a record.

create a hidden form element to capture the label, and use javascript to change the hidden form elements value when the select list is changed.

Here is an example:

html:
<input type="text" name="hiddenLabel" id="hiddenLabel" />
<select name="selectValue" id="selectValue" onChange="document.form1.hiddenLabel.value = document.form1.selectValue[document.form1.selectValue.selectedIndex].text">
<option value="make a selection"></option>
<option value="1">one</option>
<option value="2">two</option>
<option value="3">three</option>
<option value="4">four</option>
<option value="5">five</option>
</select>
