Getting rid of USA states and formatting?

Anyone know the best and quickest route to changing the PS files to not be USA orientated?

Just want to check before I start attempting to change all the dropdowns and validation if anyones found an easy way.

Got to say it pretty bad that PS has been marketted as a developers dream as its a nightmare its just so USA only everything about it. Very dissapointing, it could have been so easy for everyone but to have to go in and remove all the hard coded US stuff is a complete nightmare and so time consuming.

All this should have been mentioned in the features: "If your not US based many changes have to be made."

Please WA you must have seen how many people on here are NON-US and are unhappy with the way PS is made.

Couldnt you for example with the US validation and stated on forms just create us generic ones without the states and validation so we can just overwrite the originals?

There is currently no supported technique other than manually updating the list to use alternative values. When you update the select lists on the checkout page it would be better to replicate this select list and update it to match how the shipping selections are setup rather than manually update both of them. I have seen problems when both are updated manually as the selected index values can get out of sync.

When you say replicate I am assuming you are talking straight copy/paste?

Also do you by any chance know all the pages that would need changing?

I have done the horrible task of the currency so now its the rest.

Its not a problem doing it just was hoping for a quick fix :)

The pages to update would be the users profile page and the checkout page. With the copy I was suggesting that you cut and paste, then updating the shipping list after the fact.
