When i try to view the file that creates the captcha image directly at:
WAVT_CaptchaSecurityImages.php

I get a 500 server error, This is a generic error message that really doesn't give enough information to troubleshoot.
Most likely the generic error is being displayed because has configured the server not to show php errors.

Please contact the host to have them either turn on more robust errror reporting or look into the servers error logs to see what the real error message is.

did they give any more specifics on what the scripting error is? I will need to know the exact error to have an idea of what is wrong.

They should also be able to help with correcting the permissions problem. You may be able to correct the permission problem in Dreamweaver.

In the files panel, change the View Dropdown to remote view.

Select the file that has the permission issue and, right click on it and select Set Permissions. Select read Write and execute permissions for all users.

captcha problems

Hi Jason,

I have contacted the hosting company and we checked the permission. There is full permissions to everyone. Plus their server does provide full error log messages when needed. Please advise as soon as possible of what to do. I desperately need to have it up and running. Plus, I actually removed all the files from the host server and upload them back from scratch and it still does the problem.

Please advise as soon as possible.

Thank you in advance.

with just the 500 error, it is impossible for me to tell what the problem is.

the file that generates the captcha image is at:
WAVT_CaptchaSecurityImages.php

when I access this file directly, I get a 500 server error. this does not tell me anything other than "An error occurred"

the hosts error logs should contain more information about the cause of the error.

I need this information to be able to proceed. Without more information, I have nothing to work with to identify a cause to the problem.

update

Hi

my next move would be to upload the form in the attached zip file.

It has nothing to do with WA it's one I use from anothe forum.

If that works then ok it's down to WA if it doesn't then I'd be screaming at the hoster.

HTH

Ian
