Master Card and Discovery policy change

It seems there has a been a fundamental policy change in how to checkout. Recently it seems to affect Master and Discovery only but authorize.net plans to extend this to Amex and Visa as well. This policy claims to punish each mearchant on the internet if not followed by May 1st, 2010 (later it was extended until June 2011)!
It says that each web shop MUST offer several payment options for ONE transaction if the sum on ONE payment module is not sufficient.
Can you please clarify?

This policy I believe is stating that you have to allow for multiple cards to be applied to the same transaction and allow for partial transactions to be processed. We're looking into this currently and will get an update to eCart that will follow this process.

Updates on this process?

I know that this isn't critical until June 2011, but I was wondering where it looks like we are headed on this PCI compliance issue. We run a store with PowerStore 2, and have authorize.net as the payment gateway. Can you tell me when the ecart update will be ready, and whether or not it will be good for PowerStore 2 as well as 3? I looked into upgrading to PowerStore 3, but don't relish the idea of having possible issues with our existing sites.

Thanks,
Michelle

Currently, I'm not sure when and what kind of update we're going to be making.

This isn't a PCI compliance issue. The payment gateway is pci compliant, there is just a policy change in regards to allowing multiple cards being applied to the same purchase.
