change to the licensing

change to the licensing

Webassist,
Noticed that your pre-built solution licensing has recently changed to "per-domain."

Just want to confirm that if you purchased before this change the new "per-domain" policy does not apply to you, correct?

Thanks,
Marek

Yes, if you had purchased before the change, the old policy still stands for you.

For clarification, what was the date of this change in licencing for all these solutions like powerGallery?

So any solution pack bought and downloaded BEFORE that date can be used on more than one site???

That's correct. You can't back-date a EULA. Solutions prior to that date were licensed for use on as many sites as you want. (Although as WebAssist no longer has any remaining copies of that last EULA on file, we'll have to make a note of it in our diaries!)

Sorry to have been so pedantic but I was seeking absolute clarity. All good news for me, so many thanks for the rapid response - much appreciated.

Clarification for the above statement given by Jimmy Wu "Yes, if you had purchased before the change, the old policy still stands for you. "

My question

I have received the following email notification: PowerCMS 2.0.1 now available for download.

My software had been purchased prior to the licensing changes, but, if I were to download the aforementioned update to eliminate any security issues, would this in effect mean that I had updated my purchase and would then have to buy additional licenses to be able to continue using PowerCMS2? Or to be able to use on multiple sites stick with the version that is buggy? There appears to be some confusion here! Can we have a clear and final update on where I/we stand on these solutions.

Thank you

Keith

Technically you are bound by the old license until you are accept the new one and you don't have to accept the new one unless you make a payment so free bug fixes would not change your license terms under the current conditions.

However, for PowerCMS 2 the licensing update was in place before this product was released, so you are already bound by it.

Thank you for clarification Eric.

My concern is that I received an email informing me that because I had purchased PowerCMS version 1 literally days before version 2 was launched I was informed that I was able to upgrade free of charge. At the time I was delighted that WebAssist had offered what I thought to be such a nice gesture and I subsequently went ahead and downloaded PowerCMS2 unbeknown that my future licensing options would be detrimental to me and my business, and in hindsight would not have upgraded having been informed of the implications. where do I stand on this?

Regards

Keith
