table structure and data entry requirement

table structure and data entry requirement

I created a new product in the store with multiple options...
In the Webassist documentation it reads as follows:

"Enter a SKU for your product.
The SKU is a unique identifier for each individual product you sell."

Does this mean the every new option must have a unique SKU number... currently, PowerStore3 software and table structure has no restrictions for multiple entries into the product tables with the same SKU number... What is the best policy... should the person that is entering product be told to manually enter a new SKU number for each option....

thanks
Bob

Basically the sku is a unique identifier for you. If you want to have the sku be different for different options so that its easier for you to inventory your items or get the correct product to the buyer, then you should have different skus for each option. Its up to you on what works best for you for sku. If you provide a little more information about your store, I might be able to give you some pros and cons on how to set up your skus if you're still unsure on how you want it set up.
