New products not being added

New products not being added

I am using Admin > Products to add new products

The Available Online box is ticked, I choose an existing Category, the SKU is a mix of numbers and letters, the name is text (multiple words), unlimited inventory is checked, a price is given (25.00), a weight is given (0), the cart description is text only, the short description is less than 1000 characters, there is nothing in the long description (I plan to add the gallery info later), the "add product options" box is ticked, and both catalog image and detail image are completed. Your boxes go green where I expect them to, but not Descriptions.

(a) When I click "finish", no product options box appears.
(b) The users see no products (No results for your search).

What am I doing wrong?
Are there any "unacceptable" character mixes in any of your boxes?

It sounds as though you are entering the information correctly. Are you able to view the products table in your db to confirm that the product has not been inserted? As a test to determine if there are any specific values that you are using that are causing this you can try adding a simple test item to the store with very basic values that do not contain any special characters.

When an item like this is added you should be able to see the item in the admin back end and in the db, if the item is set to be live on the site then you should be able to view it there as well. Please give this a try and let us know what the result is.

Print screen of products table information

I have now tried your approach. Details: Check for available, Category / Product - Tiger, SKU - 123, Name - Tiger1, check for unlimited, price 25.00, weight - 0, cart - Tiger1 card description, short - 4 sentences in three paragraphs. Two .jpg pictures for catalogue and detail. I did not tick add product options.

I then checked the category and product tables using phpMyAdmin (1&1 is my ISP) - Categories said 22 rows completed (as expected); Products said Creation and Update at exactly the same time, and no rows.

The website is chengyan.nickdfg.com. I have attached a zip file with copies of the print screens.

extra info on add product not working

My site is a subdomain of my main site and WAPS3 content is in the root of the subdomain ~ I don't expect it to make any difference to the database, but add the info for completeness.

From 1&1 Control Panel > Web Space & Access > phpMyAdmin on the database, I can add a new product (but not able to add any images), which I can then see using PS3 Admin.

Regards, Nicola

I have just responded to your ticket with an update on my testing results. I was able to add a new item and update the existing one with a new image. I'm wondering if there is an issue with the name of the image files you are using. If the image file name has a period in it (.) then there might be problems when you upload these images. I was just updating here to share with any others that may be experiencing something similar.
