Products don't show up on Products_Results page

Thread begun 5/17/2010 4:56 pm by mrobben375515 | Last modified 6/07/2010 11:22 am by Eric Mittman | 2284 views | 8 replies |

Products don't show up on Products_Results page

Not sure why, but my products aren't showing up in the Products_Results.php page anymore. I tried to replace the page with the original Products_Results page in the PS3 folder and that didn't change anything. I also looked in the database and all of the tables are in order. What could the problem be?

If you are using the default file and seeing this result there is probably an issue with some of the items or values used in the items. Did it just start this after you updated an item or two? When did this start occurring for you? Is there any way that you can revert the changes that you have made since it was working for you? Also, do you have a link where this can be seen at all?

To debug this further we will need a link to the page and a copy of your db minus the wa_settings table. If this is information that you can't post here let me know and I will open a ticket for you on this.

I was able to see your pages and the behavior you were referring to. Whenever you click on the products link in the menu it will take you to the results page with the previous results showing. If you would like this link to function the exact same as the show all products link you will need to do the following:

Open up the CSSMenuWriter > cssmw_home > menu.php file, in here update line 88 from this:

php:
<li class="parent"><span><a href="<?php echo($assumedRoot); ?>Products_Results.php">Products</a></span>

to this:

php:
<li class="parent"><span><a href="<?php echo($assumedRoot); ?>Products_Results.php?Search=0">Products</a></span>

Please let us know if there are any further issues with this.

When I click on the categories they don't show up though. When i click on the subcategories they go to those pages, but If I click on USDA Choice steaks or the other categories on the first dropdown the Products_Results page shows up blank. It has this extension ?Search=1&ProductCategoryID[]= ....is that wrong?

To make it show all of the items that are in the subcategory here you will need to associate each of those sub categories items with the high level category as well. So for example if you logged into the admin area and updated the boneless ribeye steaks item to belong to the USDA choice steaks as well as the boneless ribeye category then it would show this item if you clicked on the higher level link. You would need to do this for all items that are in a subcategory, you will need to update the item so that it also belongs to the higher level category. You can do this in the admin area by Ctrl+click on the multiple categories.

Thanks!

That Ctrl-click tip is huge! It was not intuitive in the interface. I will add text there to help the client know that they need to ctrl click each category area they want their product to be listed under. My assumption was that if you selected a sub category of a parent category it would relationally (and automatically) be part of that higher category.

I just did the ctrl click trick for a three tier category product and it worked for all three.

Thanks again for the post!

The Ctrl+click technique should be universal for multi select lists like the one used for the products, it is definitely very helpful. I have spoken to a couple of people here though about adding in something to point this out further.
