Protected Page

I am new to the concept of the protected page. As you know, when a user has successfully registered, they are redirected to the users_Thankyou.php page that has a link to the Protected Page.

Could you please explain the purpose of the protected page and how it may be utilized with the user solution pack? Thank you for your time.

a protected page is one which prevents access to the normal site visitors.

Uses of protected pages are special member areas or admin areas for site updates.

Could you give examples of how a protected page may be used? I have created a home page for authorized members; a page in which members would be directed to upon signing in. Would this home page of mine be considered a protected page? If so, how can i integrate the home page into the protected page?

if this page for authorized members you refer to is not for regular visitors, then yes, it would be a protected page.

If it wasn't protected, then, potentially, anyone could view it.

Using a tool such as security assist, the page is coded to check that the visitor has logged in and that the login has appropriate rights to view the page.

If the check is ok, the page is displayed, if not, the visitor is pointed somewhere else, such as a login page.
