Left Column Content Area - Over Content Area?

Hello,

I made a CSS sculptor design and need to get the Left Column to be over the content area to use it as a navigation sidebar. Is this possible?

If you look at the page, the area to the left of that green bar is going to be the navigation area. My problem came when using tables that spanned the whole white area, when entering down the right content side, it moved the left side down also, causing the navigation to be almost at the bottom, off the page.

Here is my template coding, using Tables to create a "fake sidebar"

index.dwt

Also, here is the CSS:

screen.css

EDIT: So i played around with it and just chopped my content area in half and made the background of the left sidebar, the left part of the content background that i chopped. Hoped it makes sense.

I actually figured it out. Basically what I was saying that with the Left sidebar CSS Sculptor templates, I couldn't get the background to seamlessly continue from the left sidebar, into the right content area.
