Can't read the Subject field from my email forms

Hi

I am new to universal email 3. I have followed the wizard to create email which can be sent from my website to other email addresses.
However when I enter the following <%=String(Request.Form("subject"))%> in the email properties subject in order to obtain the subject of my email from the form I receive this as the email subject <%=String(Request.Form("subject"))%>.

I am using php and the mail object.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
