Is stamps.com supported as a USPS shipper

I know that USPS is listed as a supported shipper. But I have a client who has a stamps.com account and wants to use them. I've looked through their site and they do have some API information under their developer support. I know they are NOT the USPS and are only vendors. But I thought I would ask if this has worked for anyone before I ask my client to setup an account at the USPS web site.

Thanks,
TroyD

I'm not sure if it'll work, since it's never been tested. You could contact stamps.com and ask them if they have any way of emulating usps. They may be able to give you instructions on how to setup their stuff to work like usps.

Thank you Jimmy. I will contact them. But just for reference, they do have a friendly looking Developers section at pdk/ . I'm totally new to this part so it's still kind of foreign to me.
Here's a quote from their first page on the subject..

  Web Services API
SOAP-based Web Services platform allows you to deliver shipping labels to virtually any technology environment necessary. Ideal for web-based ecommerce integration or any web-hosted application.

so it looks promising.

The USPS Web Tools looks confusing to me already. I can't figure out if my client has to have a regular account with them AND a Web Tools account. Or if they are one in the same because it also mentions that a developer for someone else' site should register but then change it over later. I am assuming that is similar to PayPal's use of the Sandbox but it isn't clear.
I'll post back.

Thanks,
TroyD

If you're confused with their interfaces, it is probably best to contact them directly, since they probably have documentation they can point you to. I'm willing to try to help out with the stamps.com, but as its not a supported platform, I can't promise anything at this point.

Just an FYI, I'm still waiting on stamps.com to send me the information for the API. It's weird, they have a great looking front page for developers but once you fill out their (very long) registration form, you are sent to a page that mentions only a PDK development kit with Active-X, Visual Basic and C++.

I'll post back if I get anywhere. In the meantime, I am working to try and move my client over to the USPS site instead. I will then still have to learn that process.

Thanks,
TroyD

I do have a call into them. But it looks like it may be Monday before I hear back.

Let me know how it goes then. Hopefully it'll be pretty simple.

Just to update. I am still waiting on the call from the developer department at stamps.com. If I do not hear back from them soon, I will try calling them again.
