how to create session variable in a form

I have finished ecart setup with paypal pro and everything works very well. Cart is not database driven and I am just using flat rate shipping. What I would like to do is add a higher flat rate for shipping to Hawaii and Alaska. I set up shipping for these in the ecart object that are triggered by Based on session variable = eCartCheckoutForm_shipping_state_province

How do I set this session variable on the checkout.php page, I assume some php will go into the option value, but my only experience with php is what I've learned this week setting up cart. I have the states listed like <option value="HI">Hawaii</option>

If anyone could post some sample code or point me to documentation that would be great. This is not urgent but would be very helpful. Thanks

NEVER MIND, I got it working. Thanks anyways.

I'm trying to do something similar. Define the value of the session variable based on dropdown menu selection.

How did you get this to work?

If you have eCart installed you can add the eCart > general > set session value server behavior to set the session variable for you.

You need to apply this to the page that your form is posting to with the action in the form tag. When you apply this you will set the trigger, like before page load, then for the value use the lightning bolt to select the select list.

If you are adding it to the same page you will have the form bindings available to you, if you are applying it to a page that does not have the form on it you will need to go to Bindings > Form Data to select the page that has the form on it to get the bindings available to you.
