thumb/main image upload with DFP 1.1.3?

I've implemented a "create record" page for a client which includes an image upload function handled by DFP 1.1.3 - they don't have an image editing program but want to be able to generate a thumbnail as well as a main image using one original image and upload it to their site. From what I've seen on this forum, that's possible with DFP2, but I don't see that's do-able with the version I've got - am I right?
Upgrading to Universal Email 4 (with DFP2 bundled in) isn't an option for me as I'm running DMW8 on a Mac and have no plans to upgrade to either DMW CS3 or 4 - just can't afford it, so am I right in thinking I'm stuck here?

DFP 1.x does not have the capability of creating a smaller thumbnail from a main image, that functionality was not added till DFP 2 which is the version that is now rolled into Universal Email.

You will not be able to accomplish creating a thumbnail image with digital File pro v 1.
