Using DataAssist with an Existing MS SQL Database

Using DataAssist with an Existing MS SQL Database

I have a Dreamweaver PHP site running on IIS, but our data is in a MS SQL database. I purchased some WebAssist tools to help develop an updated site and found that MS SQL is not supported with PHP.

Do you have any suggestions? Unfortunately, we are not able to use MySQL so changing the database is not an option.

Any help would be appreciated.

Shari

DataAssist 2 is compatible with ASP pages. to use an MS SQL Database, you would need to create your pages as ASP pages.

Just be aware that future upgrades to DataAssist, i.e. DataAssist 3 will no longer support ASP.

I tried that as both ASP.NET VB and ASP Vbscript and in both cases, I was asked to create a new site. Even when I did create another ASP site, I received the same message.

Also, when they drop ASP support, will anything be added?

you will need to use asp vb script. after creating the site, create a new blank asp page and save it to the site before running the DataAssist wizard.

Yes, there will be new functionality added to DataAssist 3, at this time I cannot say what the new functionality will be, it is not currently being developed. All new version of our extensions will no longer support ASP though.
