How to transfer my localhost PS to a live server?

Hi,

I'm sure there will be instruction on this but I'm not able to locate it.
I've basically setup a local test server (MAMP) so that I could create my PS site locally. I now have everything completed and now need to transfer / upload the site to my live server.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Thanls

Hi

This may not be the easiest way but it works for me.

1. Upload the core package you downloaded from WA and run the setup.

this will create the database and setup your connections.

2. Using you mysql tool of preferance drop all the tables excluding the admin one into an SQL file from your local Database.

3. Run that SQL file from your webserver database. this should import all data into the Database

4. upload your local files into your remote webserver. DO NOT UPLOAD the connection s folder.
I always mask mine.

You should then be able to run the shop.

As I say it works for me.

One piece of advise- take loads of backups.

HTH

Hi Ian

Forgot to mention I am running PS 2.

Could someone from WA please confirm what the best procedure is please? I'm about to launch my first PS store so want to make sure it's ok.

Thanks

The PowerStore 2 does not have the installation process to create the db. The best way to go live with it is to first go into your MySQL GUI tool and export your local db, then import this on your live server. Next you would just upload all of the files to your live server.

If the db name or host is different on your live server you will need to update the connections file on the live server, just set your live db name and host in here. You may also need to adjust the globals file for the remote or local root depending on how you have these settings in your local site. I would suggest that you attempt to transfer and upload the site to your live host then check for any issues.
