Unable to Load php_mssql.dll

Unable to Load php_mssql.dll

On an old site I created, long before I knew about webassist, I am suddenly getting this error when trying to checkout:

Unable to load dynamic library 'C:\PHP4\Extensions\php_mssql.dll' - The specified module could not be found. in Unknown on line 0

I think this has something to do with my hosting but was hoping I could get some insight as to what the php_mssql.dll is/does and if there is anything I can do about it or if it is all on my host's side?

Thanks

Travis

Hi Travis,

php_mssql.dll is an extension that resides on the server (either testing or remote) in the ext or extensions folder in the Main PHP folder. It basically enables/configures MySql on the server. The php_mssql.dll file would have to a) physically exist on the server and, b) be enabled in the php.ini file (usually by uncommenting the line referring to that extension).

Essentially - unless you have admin access to your server's root - it would be up to your hosting providers to sort this out if it is a remote site, or you would need to sort it if it is on your local testing server.

Create a file called phpinfo.php containing nothing but the these lines (in code view):

<?php
phpinfo ();
?>

Upload it to your server and then access it via your browser. This will display a list of your PHP configurations. It will tell you what you have configured in terms of mySql amongst (many) other things.

Thanks for the info that is what I thought. I had already created the PHP info page (phpinfo.php) and I get the same error at the bottom of that page.

My host finally got back to me and they agree it is on their end and are working on fixing it right now.

Thanks
