create line breaks in a memo field (Access and DW ASP)

Thread began 5/18/2009 2:46 pm by karen.marley367377 | Last modified 8/01/2009 9:13 am by jon_upton | 2894 views | 2 replies |

create line breaks in a memo field (Access and DW ASP)

When entering data into a memo field, using separate paragraphs, text appears in the details page as one block, instead of separate paragraphs.

The database is MSAccess - the field is set to memo. Am using DataAssist in DW for the ASP pages.

Many thanks

This is because html ignores line breaks... You can probably use the replace function to replace line breaks with BR tags where you are displaying the text in order to get around this issue.

Did this help? Tips are appreciated...

Use this code to display your memo field

memotext = (rsText.Fields.Item("ZEB_CMS_Text1").Value)
If (memotext) <> "" Then
Response.Write(Replace(memotext, vbCrLf,"<br>"))
end if

where rsText is your recordset name and ZEB_CMS_Text1 is your memo field name
