Sale on 10 products but only with coupon

I need to have a sale on about 10 items for the month of April. The sale price will ONLY be available to customers that have a coupon. The sale should ONLY apply to those items that are on sale.

The only way I can see to make this work is if I had the customer login when they first get to the site. Otherwise, the cart will need to use "discounts" rather than calculations.

Am I missing a technique here?
What can my general approach to this be?
Do you have some specifics on how to do this?

Thanks.

I know that yesterday was Monday and is usually busy but does anybody have any ideas about my cart problem?

Thanks

More specifics about sale strategy and calculations

I currently have a table with sale products. I join this table to my products table using a sub-query so that it only pulls in sale items that are active. In the "sale" table, I have part number, active, saleprice and sale code that is unique to each sale.

I register this sale code with the "Add To Cart" button. So, if the product is on sale, each item that they add to cart will be flagged with a code if it has one. So, I think everything is in place to work if I could just figure out a calculation that would reduce only the "flagged" items with a 20% sale price.

This is the way I would prefer to do it but the only other way to accomplish this is to have the customer login to a sale page where only those products can be purchased.

For me, this feature keeps being requested and I would REALLY like to figure out how to do it.

Thanks.

Custom Expression?

Might I use a "custom expression evaluates to true?" and what would that custom expression look like? VBSCRIPT

Was just thinking about this and I probably can't use "Custom...evals to ..."

WoW! I guess I'm on my own.

You can do this with out having the user to log in. First you will need to set up the coupon code:

start.htm

Once you have the coupon code working you will need to more triggers to the discount. One will be to check for the discountable column in your eCart and one for the date.

I have attached two screen shots of how the trigger should be set.

Let me know if you still have any other questions.

Dani,

Those screen shots are just too small. Could you please upload a new set that I can look at?

Thanks

The solution is so tantalizingly close. Yet, it's so far away...
