SSL lock not showing after installation

Hi there,

I have used ECart for a website with paypal as an option and also my client can do her own processing of cc details.

I bought a GoDaddy SSL certificate, and it was installed (HostGator) but the lock is not showing and there is no https in the link.

Does SSL certificates automatically create the HTTPS (rather than HTTP) or should ECart have done that? Or should I have done something in setup for it to occur??

Thanks for your help!
Nic

You just need to go to https:// in the browser instead of http:// to signify that you want to go to the secured section.

Hi Ray,
thanks. But in the normal scheme of things, when people click onto the site - ie www.gallerialisa.com - and hit the buy now button (paintings / growth series etc) and it goes to the cart. This is still in HTTP. They then hit the checkout button, but it Remains HTTP - ie it doesn't go secure. Should it? The only time it goes secure at the moment is if i actually type in etc which the customer is not going to do...
Thanks for your help!!

Update the redirect value for the checkout button.

Instead of going to: "checkout.php", change it to: "https://www.yoursite.com/checkout.php"

It will go to secure if you tell it to, but it won't automatically know to go to secure. You need to link the user to the secure site when you are ready for the secure portion. In this case the checkout is a logical place.
