DFP not doing anything for large files!

DFP not doing anything for large files!

Hello,

I seem to be having an issue with my update page (I haven't tried an insert page with this issue yet!) not doing ANYTHING if I try to upload a file that is larger than the allowed filesize.

The update form just returns to itself and displays no error message (yes error reporting is set to all errors!)

This could be very frustrating for the end user.

i have verified that file size is the issue by changing it with .htaccess and the file upload is successful.

Please advise on a solution.

Thank you.

you can use the Server Validation Server Behavior of CSS Form builder to validate the file size.

with a file field named imageUpload, one of the bindings under the form collection will be named "imageUpload File Size"

Use number validation, select the "imageUpload File Size" as the server variable.

Set the maximum to the number of bytes you wish to restrict file upload to.

I ma attaching screen shots to demonstrate.

Why does either:

a) the extension take care of this itself?

or

b) this not get added to the "Known Issues" for the product or the manual for the product?

Digital file pro does not have the capabilities of Server Validation built into it.

I understand that the submission form is there, but would it not make sense for the 'support' department to point out these issues and these threads to the documentation department.

I, quite frankly, am spending enough of my time scouring these forums, desperatley trying to get this "Suite" of products that I purchased to work togehther! I don't have extra time to submit requests to the documentation department.. especially when there should be a process in place within WebAssist itself to ensure that these things are documented for THEIR users / customers.

I do forward these documentation requests to our documentation department. I am merely trying to give you the direct line to request documentation updates on your own.

The reality is:
It is impossible for us to document every thing that can be accomplished using our extensions.

If there is something you are trying to accomplish and cannot find documentation for, post a thread here and we will assist you, that is what we are here for.

Would the Validation Toolkit extension provide this same functionality without having to purchase another whole extension suite?

It comes into play when people are trying to upload photos that they take straight out of their digital camera and they exceed the 1000px file size limitation (which is every single current digital camera out there over 1MP). Even with the resizing option, anything over 1000px does not work.

It seems to me that this needs to be included in DFP. At least DFP should return some sort of error message when it fails to complete an upload, otherwise how does the user or the developer know what is causing the page to fail.

Right now, it just returns to the same page and does nothing.

Tried the suggested solution, does not seem to work

Hello,

I have tried the solution suggested above with Validation Toolkit, but it does not seem to work. The script seems to be stopped anyway and the original page is shown, so no error message can be shown.
