When you apply the Validation Show if Behavior, you have to configure which validation will be used as the trigger From the Validation Fail list.

Make sure to select the validation from the Validation failed List that should be used to trigger the error message, then click the plus button.

NOTE, Multiple validations can be added as the trigger for a single validation show if region.

do you have a link where I could see the problem? Can you provide a copy of the page so I can investigate the code?

just figured it out

there is a bug in 2.5.4... when you submit a form that has a field with the same name as the page it causes it to only display the first show if behavior on the page. ie. my page name was definefields.asp. my form field name was definefields and the value="1". This has been quite the pain to figure out. Thanks.
