Edit buttons unavailable in Dreamweaver for existing menu

Edit buttons unavailable in Dreamweaver for existing menu

Hello,

(Dreamweaver CS4)

In Dreamweaver design view, when I select an existing Webassist menu, the properties panel makes available the button for "Edit menu" but the buttons for "Edit Content" and "Edit Theme" are grayed out. Additionally, if I select "Edit menu," I am only given the opportunity to create a new menu. The existing menu is not available in the drop down lists.

The menu is operating properly on the web page and I can see its files in the CSSMenuWriter directory in a sub-directory called cssmw1, containing menu.css, menu.js and menu.php files.

The only thing I've done that may be a little unorthodox was to edit menu.css with a path to hover images in my default images directory instead of in the cssm1_images directory.

I would greatly appreciate any advice. While I can edit the menu files by hand, it's nice to have the graphical interface in Dreamweaver and would prefer to get that working again.

If your only change was a small edit to the css you should try backing up your file then remove the change that you made and try to edit the menu again.

If the menu itself has been edited too much you can have this problem. You should always be able to edit the menu as it is produced by Menu Writer. If you think that the menu should be editable after you revert you changes and still have this problem post back with the page that has the menu on it and a copy of the CSSMenuWriter folder in a zip archive. I will see if I get a different result.

Thanks

Hello Eric,

I ended up uninstalling the extension and the menu files and reinstalling everything. (I had an issue with the .dat file too, apparently).

This has solved the problem.

Thanks again for your offer.
