MW2 creates links but fails to work

I am trying to create just a small web site with six pages I create a template and used this to create my pages. I then used the Menu Writer to create links. However I am unable to make the links resolve. When I open up the page in a browser Internet Explorer cannot display web page.
<!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="NavTmp" -->
<div id="sidebar1">
<ul class="level-0" id="cssmw">
<li><a href="index.html">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="about.htm">About Us</a></li>
<li><a href="contact.htm">Contact Us</a></li>
<li><a href="services.htm">Services</a></li>
<li><a href="links.htm">Links</a></li>
<li><a href="hearing.htm">Hearing Aids</a></li>
<script type="text/javascript">if(window.attachEvent) { window.attachEvent("onload", function() { cssmw.intializeMenu('cssmw',{select_current: 0, orientation: 2}); }); } else if(window.addEventListener) { window.addEventListener("load", function() { cssmw.intializeMenu('cssmw',{select_current: 0, orientation: 2}); }, true); }</script>
<!-- end #sidebar1 -->
<!-- InstanceEndEditable -->
Please note using Dreamweaver CS4 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Architecture
