product updates not updating!!

When i update product details, prices, pictures, availability... in the admin window. sometimes the updates hold briefly, sometimes it reverts back to a previous version of info, or replaced image, or availability, or my browser enters an endless "communicating" stall

what is happening??

** when i hit "Update", it directs to WWW... my site is set up not using the "WWW", is this the issue? How do i stop that?
