PowerMessenger as SMS Bulk marketing

Would PowerMessenger work as a Bulk SMS Messenger service since a text can be "emailed" to cell phone numbers?

If I send an "email" in the format of (555)555-5555@carrier.net, the person will receive my email as a text. So can I input those cell numbers with the carriers address as the "email" address and include them in a new group and send text alerts in addition to my regular opt in email campaigns?

Looking for an alternative solution to paying for credits via an SMS Marketing service.
