Using PHP includes files within Site Sculptor Site

Hello

New Web Assist (Super Suite) customer sending out an SOS

I would like to use several php includes files in my design, I have tried to use php includes, and require once techniques for frequently used files,
The problem is these are not registering, I have tried to build them into my template and also I have attempted to enter these in the CMS as source code but they are not displaying, I have even tried to enter them directly into the database but they just do not show up.

I really need some guidence on how to implement this, my client requires CMS installed on the site for the main content areas, however I need to retain the ability to quickly change key elements of the site by using php includes files, rather than updating templates site wide, as the pages I generate will have to be tailored individualy for different sections of the site, ie different header/footer scripts and style sheets etc.

I assume if I update a template and all of the pages created from the template, I will loose changes that I have made to the individual pages header scripts, style sheets etc.

I would apreciate it if someone could get back to me with some information about how to implement this, thanks in advance
Steve
