insert select list value from css form builder to db

I created a form with css form builder 2 in dreamweaver cs3 and the email functions of the form are working as expected. One of the form elements is a select list.

I then created a dataassist insert record behavior to have the form fields entered into a database.

All of the fields populate the database except the select list data.

when I click on the field and choose the dynamic data this is what I get:
<?php ((isset($_POST["career_position[]"]))?$_POST["career_position[]"]:"") ?>

and in the insert record server behaviour I have this:
<?php echo ((isset($_POST["career_position[]"]))?$_POST["career_position[]"]:""); ?>

Does this look correct?

I cant understand why the email is able to select the dynamic/list menu value but the insert record behaviour can not.
