Dreamweaver freezes opening Fireworks - partial solution

I am having the problem several others have had with Dreamweaver freezing/crashing when you click to edit an image with Fireworks in Theme-it.

Occasionally it worked. But mostly it didn't.

I spent hours on what ended up a wild goose chase trying to see if it was a particular piece of CSS or image type that was causing the problem. It wasn't. It had nothing to do with what you were actually editing.

I found that opening any image in Fireworks from the Dreamweaver properties panel before launching Theme-it solves the problem of crashes.

This is quite annoying if I've forgotton to do this before doing it from within Theme-it, especially if I have unsaved files in Dreamweaver before it freezes/crashes.

I did once see a message/error something to do with running Fireworks with administrator privileges first but I can't make this appear again. Could it be that Dweamweaver is able to launch Fireworks with the correct permisisons the first time but Theme-it can't - or something along those lines? I installed Dreamweaver (CS5) and Fireworks (CS5) as my default user on a fresh install of Windows 7.
