Using the cart to accept donations

Using options and conditional options I can lay out a productDetail that looks like your average donations page where you can choose from a list of optional $ donation levels or fill in your own dollar amount.
What I can't figure out is how do I get PS4 to see those fields as dollars and all that that entails?

Also the client wants the contributor to have the ability to write in the amount the wish to donate.
