You are absolutely right - I've just been in IT far too long (30 years) - and would often put a mask of "xxx" just to show it goes on for ever....!!!

I'm ok with the actual datepicker control itself - the default set of skins are pretty good and useable - and don't clutter the code with junk which is an added bonus!
