Unable to install from a folder within the root folder

I have two test sites and installed all the Power Store files into the root section of my second one (no other files there). The install went perfectly and I am now working on the store.

I also have to design a basic web site for the client that will link to the power store which I plan to have set up in a folder residing in the root directory of his main site.

Once I have done most of the editing on the power store that I have on my test site, my thought is to copy all of the files over into this seperate directory and upload to the server. Set the permissions for the folder and underlying files to 777. Will this work?
