Background across whole page & scalable?

I didn't know how to title this but I can show you - Bohio/ - See how the background scales as you change the width of the window? I want to be able to do that AND be able to have the page scale downward by adding the white content area right above the footer. Basically the contentwrapper, but I tried doing it and the only way I could get the background to go across the whole page, was to make a bg.jpg file and have it repeat x only. But when I would try to add more content...it was a nightmare since the background was fixed.

More specifically looking at the non-homepages as they will be the ones I want to add more content to.
