Contradiction in features and feedback from WA

Originally Said By: Eric Mittman
Getting it to display the results directly on the page without them being in a list would require some custom coding to edit the existing code. This type of edit would require some skills in js client side scripting as this is how the list is populated.

If you wanted to make a two pare solution you could have a submit button on the page and make it into a search page that posts to a results page. The results page would need to have a recordset that will select all of the potential records then the DataAssist Search server behavior would be used to setup the search criteria to ensure that it was filtered on the value coming from the select list.

The first step in this process would be to use DataAssist to create the search and results page, then you can modify the search page to have your dropdowns on it.

I spoke to Jon in WA Sales dept today with this same question and he assured me that we can accomplish our goal (listed above) with using WA Dynamic DropDown and DataAssist. I'm very disappointed that their seems to be a contradiction in processes and or whether or not this task can be accomplished via your products.

This is a basic example of our goal:
Drop down 1 = product categories i.e. Accessories, Infants, Childrens, Dresses, Footwear
Drop down 2 = Brand i.e. Anne Klien, LL Bean, Eddie Bauer etc.
The search criteria listed on the drop downs retrieves a results page with a list of all sales reps that carry the selected brand.

Thanks

Erick
