Normally for the going between ASC and DESC you would just check the box to toggle the order on subsequent visits. This should make it so the same link and identifier value sort it in this way.

When I was on the page it looks like the jump menus are not hooked up yet so it was hard to see the result that you were talking about. Post back with the page in question in a zip archive if you continue to have any troubles with this.
