Express Paypal Cart button sequence?

I worked with Dani yesterday to get my cart functioning properly and it did, except now in trying to use the optional Express button on the checkout.php page, it doesn't quite work.

Originally the wizard had it going directly to paypal Authorization but it was not processing the payment after I signed in and it did not add it to the Orders Database, nor was it showing the pp_confirm.php page. I tried changing the return URL to pp_confirm.php, and then submit, but it did the same thing, resulting in a failed transaction... Is the express checkout supposed to avoid the summary database entirely? If not, where might this sequence be breaking down?

There seems to be no way or reason to have or use the pp_checkout.php page since it is redundant and if someone presses the express button, it should bypass it anyway...

Just a bit confused as to the proper sequence...
