The framework extension should allow you to work within dreamweaver and use all of the existing webassist extensions or native dreamweaver functionality to create pages.
Then it will allow you to include that pages functionality onto another page. Since it will automatically update image paths and links, it would allow you to continue to use dreamweaver and relative paths and still be able to include that content onto any number of pages in your site, or show different content based on a url, session, or other variable. This piece of the framework will be called plugins.
Another piece will be Themes. It will basically allow you to create a template page in Dreamweaver to define your design. Then allow you to create content pages that contain only the content for the editable regions. Then you will be able to "apply" the template to the content page through the code without actually associating it to the template in dreamweaver. This way you can make changes to a single template file without needing to propogate and update the derived pages, also this means your template is just a php setting that can be dynamic.
This will allow a great deal of flexability when the two are used in conjunction. Your designs can be broken into themes and your functionality into plugins and you can quickly swap out either on the page.
This first version probably won't include any actual Themes or Plugins we have created. You would use your existing Dreamweaver templates to create the themes and create plugins with securityassist, dataassist, or google toolkit, or dreamweaver recordsets.
If it is popular we will then start developing a library of themes and plugins based on our tools or possibly open an exchange where they can be shared and rated by the community.
