Power CMS2 MySQL db not working on new domain

I have been using PowerCMS 2 with a website for the last week, now I have transferred all files to the new domain but still using the same MySQL database.
when I access it from the old domain it works
when I try and access it from the new domain it tries to set up a new connection to the database and then complains the tables are already there. - I know they are already there.

why does it think it a new connection . and how can I can it to work with deleting everything?

i,e what do I need to do to make the new domain simply use the database without trying to set up new tables?

thanks
