Adding Google Analytics Tracking

Hi, I'm familiar with adding Google's standard Analytics tracking code to a website, and I assume here it's just a case of copying the code to the main.dwt template and uploading the
updated files to the server. But will this track the pages like the cart, checkout and confirmation? I've read briefly about Google's ecommerce analytics but don't really understand how to implement it
