Captcha image and Text missing

Missing Captcha Image

OK... now I know this not a problem with my iMAC system's default OS setup. I installed MAMP on my iMAC and the image still does not display. I also installed the UserRegistration100 suite on a borrowed PC and and the Captcha image displays fine.

Any ideas about why the iMac won't display the image or what I should do to setup my iMAC so it does?
