Issue with Data Assist and template

I'll preface this by saying that most of my web development experience has come from the design/photoshop side of things and my understanding of coding is pretty limited. Hence the reason I purchased WA extensions.

Here's my issue. Some of my clients are wanting ecommerce on their sites and I'm working on building that with the WA extensions. I have the Super Suite of extensions.

My normal workflow, up until now, is to design in Photoshop and use SiteGrinder, a PS plug in, to generate the html and css. Unless I need a dynamic site this works great.

What I need to be able to do is to take the page(s) I create and use them to generate a DW template and use WA extensions from there.

I've run through the DataAssist tutorials and I feel like I'm getting somewhat comfortable with the process, however I've not had any luck getting it to work correctly with templates I've generated.

For instance, I started with a very basic page, opened the html page in DW and saved it as a template file. I had two areas that had dummy text in them that were sized accordingly that I used to create editable regions.

When I ran DA I selected the correct template and editable region, but the fields don't display properly. For example the search fields are underneath the editable region and the only fields I can see are the ones at the bottom of the page below the content of the page. Any search fields farther up on the page are covered up.

I looked in the code and it appears that the code inserted by DA is inside of the editable region.

Maybe I'm doing something obviously wrong, but I'm stuck.

I've attached the files I'm working with if that helps. I used blank.html/blank.css to make the template.

I wouldn't be opposed to buying Power Store to have a turn key solution if I knew I could skin it with templates I make, but I'm not sure based on the demos if that's possible. Does anyone know how that would work?

Thanks!
