Also, please tell me if you are on a mac or pc and the version of DW, and if you are using the Advanced Image Upload?
Thanks.
Local development on a PPC Mac 10.4.11
PHP MYSQL
DW CS4
Upload - using HTML Editor file manager
As you know - sites (by default) are are stored in the user folder 'Sites' - hence the prefix
and thats where I've always had them
a typical path locally being
index.php?
Looking in the HTML Config it is set up as
$WA_EditorLocalRoot = '/~UserName/SiteName/';
$WA_EditorRemoteRoot = '/~UserName/SiteName/';
obviously substituted UserName and SiteName
Each text article is editied with HTML Editor
and images in the text are uploaded via HTML editors filemanager
That article text (including links) is written to the database
more
my main file folder is 'userfiles'
my images are in that folder, in another folder called 'image'
the index.php file is in the Mac Site folder
index.php
>userfiles>image>imageappearinginindex
an image appearing on the index page should have src="userfiles/image/imagename.ext"
the html editor(s) are being called from a php file in a sub folder CMS
>cms>form_edit_article.php
From what I have experienced I cannot believe that HTML editor was ever even tested on a standard mac web setup
if the code goes looking for the apache root folder and inserts that into all the image filepaths
(another annoyance - after picking the default upload folder as 'userfiles' it is displayed in the filemanger as 'root'?? - root seems to be misunderstood and misued all round)
Yes the true root is the apache server - but that's completely useless to include that in the image filenames!
And just to finish things off...I change the upload default directory from /userfiles/ to userfiles/ - and all the editors stop working - no database text - no upload
The upload directory should have nothing to do with the managers interface!
So I go to EDIT the interface and the wizard gives me a javascript error and refuses to open
Now I'm totally screwed
3 days down - still not able to put images onto site.
My client is going ape sh*t
....editors back
no change on path problem
