fragop,

I completely agree, that even as a code writer, I like having the speed of WebAssist extensions. Sure, I could write queries by hand - but - I would never have the time to complete a job on time. I need speed, so why not use extensions with wizards for repetitive tasks that could take hours to write out by hand. I think that is the biggest plus for Dreamweaver. Otherwise, when it comes to just plain coding, I would rather use something like Panic's Coda for the Mac.

As far as any of the Microsoft languages go, I think I would simply avoid them... why be stuck with a proprietary language that only works on one kind of server? PHP is clearly a better option from my standpoint both in community support and third party extension and application developers. As far as ease of use, Coldfusion certainly took the cake - but again, the community for CF is not the largest and Adobe can be slack about real support for the language. Not only that, they like to charge an arm and a leg for the license.

I, too, used the ADDT extensions. In some cases, their transaction engine made some things quicker - such as registration forms and image uploads. However, WebAssist extensions allow me to customize more along the way and the WebAssist stuff is easier to add hand coded items in as well. I also have found WebAssist's customer service to be far superior to Adobe's (I cannot speak for Interakt because I purchased after it was Adobe). When I have an issue with WebAssist products, I always get immediate attention from either Ray (who does an amazing job) or one of their other guys who are willing to get on the phone and work problems out with me and make my life much easier.

I think WebAssist is onto something really good with these new PHP extensions. Sure, there will be some refinements needed, but as long as we stay active on here in this community, there's no reason to beleive that WA won't deliver what we need as long as we are paying cutomers and continue to help them understand our needs.
