To be fair you have hit the nail on the head there - ASP is dead and Microsoft have been focusing development on ASP.NET for some time now. It's just that it never really took off like they hoped it would so they have had to keep running with ASP in its current form.

Regarding the above, I think this statement is generally unfair. PHP developers do not use or want wizards - in fact the majority of applications will require hand coding. The Web Assist tools do give you a base platform on which you can develop the code further, and they also allow Web "Designers" with tools that enable them to create dynamic PHP solutions.
However, given the choice of being able to create more in less time by making use of tools such as Web Assist, any business minded developer would use the tools every time.
